The end-to-end trading journal Trade. Journal.
Evolve.
The journal that says no when you shouldn't.
Most journals only record what already went wrong. Place orders from Kalmat and each one is checked before your broker sees it: stop-loss required, risk capped against your account balance, tilt-lock after a losing streak.

II How the gate works
Every order passes the gate first.
Place market, limit and stop orders from the journal. The journal that says no when you shouldn't.
-
01
You place the order
Market, limit or stop, from the Trade Ticket. Pick a playbook, and set a trailing stop that arms on fill.
-
02
Your rules check it
Stop-loss required, risk capped against your account balance, tilt-lock after a loss streak, and your playbook's hard rules enforced server-side.
-
03
Sent, or blocked and priced
Allowed orders go to your broker. Blocked ones land in the Shadow Book, tracked to their would-be outcome: "rules saved you $1,240."
Built for serious traders
- Your money stays with your broker
- Kalmat never stores your MetaTrader password
- 2FA sign-in + encrypted broker keys

III Trading journal features
Your entire trading life, in one command deck.
The journal that doesn't just record your trades — it executes them through a discipline gate, your playbook's rules enforced before the broker sees the order. MT5 auto-synced and Indian brokers pulled over their APIs, Zerodha included; prop drawdown tracked to the firm's rulebook; stops that fight back when you move them; a CA-ready FY tax P&L.
-
Broker auto-sync
Open a trade in MT5 — it appears in your journal within minutes: entry, exit, commissions and swaps, chart snapshots at entry and exit. Indian brokers pull the tradebook through the broker API — Zerodha via Kite Connect, plus Dhan, Upstox, Angel One and Fyers; Groww, 5paisa, ICICI Direct, HDFC Securities and Kotak backfill from CSV.
Zero manual entry
-
Trades on real charts
Every trade replayed on live candles: entry and exit marked, stop-loss and target zones drawn, risk-reward computed. See exactly what you did — and what the market did next.
Powered by TradingView™ charts

Prop objectives, live
Prop-firm-exact daily-loss and max-drawdown tracking with your floating P&L counted in real time. Know your distance to the floor while the trade is still running.
Breach-proof discipline
-
Trade through the gate
Place market, limit and stop orders from the journal. Every order passes a discipline gate first: stop-loss required, risk capped against your account balance, tilt-lock after a loss streak. Trailing stop on the ticket, armed on fill. The journal that says no when you shouldn't.
The journal that executes
-
SL Integrity Guard
Widen or delete a stop-loss in MT5 and your phone buzzes in seconds — the move is flagged on your permanent record. Strict mode goes further: the cloud puts your original stop straight back.
Your stop, made immovable
-
The Shadow Book
Trades the gate blocks — and setups you log as skipped — are tracked against live price to their would-be outcome. Month end, your discipline gets a dollar value: "rules saved you $1,240."
Proof your rules pay
The Shadow Book
See the money your rules saved.
Orders the gate blocks are stored in the Shadow Book and tracked against live price to their would-be result. At month end you see your real P&L next to what would have happened if you had broken your own rules. That number is the clearest proof that discipline pays.
- XAU/USD · buyGuardrail: wait 30 min after a loss−$620
- NAS100 · sellTilt-lock, third loss−$410
- EUR/USD · buyRisk 2.4% above the 1% cap+$180
- GBP/JPY · sellStop would breach daily loss−$390
Rules saved you$1,240

IV The full toolkit · 14 tools
Rules you can enforce. Edge you can prove.
Your rules become checks every order must pass, and every broken rule gets a price. Prop drawdown runs to the firm's rulebook, Zerodha syncs over Kite Connect, and your CA gets a financial-year P&L with 44AB turnover computed.
Execute & protect
-
Playbooks, enforced
Nine starter setups, ICT order blocks to short strangles, with hard and soft rules. Pick one on the ticket; hard rules are enforced server-side before the order reaches the broker. Blocked orders land in the Shadow Book. Each broken rule is priced as edge leak.
Hard rules enforced. Leaks priced.
-
Manage live positions
Run open MT5 positions from the journal: move to breakeven, partial close by percent, close all, close only the winners or only the losers. Trail any open position from the list. Type your risk percent and the lot size fills the ticket before you commit.
Stops that only tighten
-
What-If Simulator
Replay your closed trades under the rules you skipped: stop after N losses, daily loss stop, profit lock, no revenge entries, top winners removed to test luck. Original versus simulated P&L, win rate, profit factor, expectancy, max drawdown, equity curves overlaid. Save named scenarios.
Backtest your own behaviour
-
High-impact news alerts
A morning summary of the day's high-impact releases, then a push ten minutes before each one. Pick the currencies and impact levels you trade; the rest stays quiet. Delivered by the journal's web push to your lockscreen, alongside chat and trade-idea alerts. No extra app.
Ten minutes' warning. No surprises.
-
MTM Guard
Account-wide day MTM target and stop loss: when hit, every position is squared off. A trailing MTM stop locks a profit floor that only rises. Kill switch closes everything. After a stop, new orders can stay blocked for the day. On your linked MT5 account.
Target, stop, trail, kill switch
-
Trailing stop at entry
Set the trailing stop on the Trade Ticket itself: distance, step, optional start after +N in your favour. It attaches to the position automatically, even when a limit or stop order fills later. Server-side, it runs with the app closed and only ever tightens.
Set once. Armed on fill.
Prop-firm challenge toolkit
-
The prop rule engine
Static, trailing and end-of-day trailing drawdown with breakeven lock, consistency rule, minimum profitable days, payout cycle and split, per challenge. Presets for 19 firms, from FTMO and QuantTekel to Topstep; verify on the firm's site. Live board: distance to floor, "safe to make today", breach history, payout-readiness checklist.
19 firm presets, one engine
-
Prop Economics Ledger
Log every evaluation fee, reset, refund and payout by firm, account size and phase. Then the numbers: ROI, pass rate per firm and size, average days to pass, a failure-reason histogram — daily loss, max drawdown, time, consistency — and your best and worst firm.
The evaluation grind, costed
-
Breach Horizon + Payout Cockpit
Your live MT5 or cTrader account measured against the challenge's daily-loss and drawdown limits: headroom in dollars and the exact price that would fail the account, with alerts at 50, 75 and 90%. Orders whose stop would breach are refused. Breach Shield can tighten stops at 90%. The cockpit shows how much profit you can still bank today without breaking the consistency rule.

Signal scorecard
Every Market Sentiment rating and every Key Level is recorded and graded bar by bar. Each rating carries its own 30-day record, such as "Buy · 1h · right 50%", next to the share of bars that simply rose. Levels are scored against random price lines. When a signal has no edge, Kalmat says so.
A track record, not a promise
-
You vs sentiment
Every closed trade is matched to the 1-hour and daily rating at entry. You see win rate and P&L when you traded with it, against it, or with no rating, split by longs and shorts. Learn whether the rating helps you, or whether fading it does.

Flows & positioning
For India: FII/DII cash flows, the share of FII index futures that are long, Nifty and Bank Nifty put/call ratio with OI walls and max pain, and India VIX. Beyond it: CFTC positioning extremes, crypto funding and open interest, and a strength meter across the 8 major currencies.

V The Trading Score
Profit tells you what happened. The Score tells you if it'll happen again.
A living 0–100 discipline rating built from your risk-reward, consistency, stop-loss usage and win rate — recalculated on every trade, per account. The number funds and prop firms actually care about.
VI Broker security
What we can touch, and how you take it back.
Kalmat can close positions and put a stop back from the cloud, so here is exactly what it holds.
-
MT5, through MetaApi
Your MT5 account is connected through MetaApi, a cloud bridge for MetaTrader. You type your MT5 password only on MetaApi's secure page — Kalmat never sees or stores it. Connected with the investor password, it can only read your trades. Placing orders, closing positions and restoring a stop need the master password — link that only if you want those features.
-
Zerodha and Indian brokers
For Zerodha you create your own Kite Connect app and save its key; the journal reads your tradebook and cannot place orders there. The app secret and the daily access token are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and are never sent back to your browser. The token expires every morning, so a fresh login is needed each day. CSV imports need no broker access at all.
-
Revoke it any time
Remove a link in Settings and it is deleted from Kalmat's database. You can also cut access at the source: delete the Kite Connect app, or change your MT5 password.
-
Your login
Account passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes, and a signed-in session expires after seven days. Turn on two-factor sign-in with Google Authenticator or any authenticator app, get an email when a new device signs in, and log out every other device in one tap.
VII Questions
Trading journal questions, answered.
What is Kalmat Trading Journal?
Kalmat is an online trading journal for forex and MT5 traders, Indian stock and F&O traders, and prop-firm traders. It records every trade automatically, replays it on a real chart, and can check each new order against your own rules before it reaches the broker.
Which brokers does the trading journal work with?
MT5 and MT4 sync automatically through MetaApi: you connect in two steps and type your password only on MetaApi's secure page. cTrader history imports from its CSV export today, and live cTrader sync through its official Open API is rolling out. Zerodha connects through Kite Connect, and Dhan, Upstox, Angel One and Fyers through their APIs. Groww, 5paisa, ICICI Direct, HDFC Securities and Kotak import from CSV, and so do Match-Trader, TradeLocker, DXtrade, Tradovate and NinjaTrader.
Does it work for prop-firm challenges like FTMO?
Yes. There are presets for 19 prop firms, from FTMO and QuantTekel to Topstep, covering static, trailing and end-of-day drawdown, daily-loss limits, consistency rules and payout checklists. Always verify the rules on the firm's own site.
Is Kalmat free?
Everything is free while we are in beta. The plans are Journal at ₹0, Pro at ₹599 a month and Elite at ₹1,499 a month.
Can Kalmat place trades on my account?
Only the ones you place yourself from the journal's Trade Ticket: on MetaTrader after connecting with the master password, or on cTrader after connecting with orders allowed. Every order passes your rules first. The only automatic actions are the protections you switch on: the MTM Guard square-off, SL Integrity Guard strict mode and trailing stops.
Does it help with Indian tax on trading?
The India FY Tax P&L groups your April-to-March trades for your CA: intraday as speculative, delivery as STCG or LTCG, and F&O, commodity and currency separately, with Section 44AB turnover. It is informational, not tax advice.
Stop journaling what already went wrong.
Start blocking it before it happens.
